Now that school’s out, students are looking for ways to keep themselves busy. Summer camps are a great way to keep them out of trouble.
“It may not seem like a long period of time, but during those weeks, they can really lose a lot of what they’ve learned throughout the year,” said Discovery Science Place Development Director Whitney Patterson.
It’s called the summer slide. Students forget what they’ve learned when their minds are idle for three months. But, summer camps help prevent that. At the Discover Science Place, they have eight weeks of camps starting mid June.
“Each week has a different theme,” explained Patterson. “Everything from science in the kitchen to robotics, tinkering and making things.”
