Dr Pepper Snapple (DPS) and national non-profit KaBOOM! awarded Discovery Science Place a $13,200 Let’s Play Improvement Grant to use toward the purchase of an Imagination Playground in a Cart™, an innovative playground equipment system. The grant, which will allow Discovery Science Place to install the system in the Hometown Gallery of the museum as part of their 2016 renovations, is part of Let’s Play, a community partnership led by Dr Pepper Snapple to get kids and families active nationwide.

Work Underway to Replace Roof

Over the next few weeks we will be working hard to improve your Discovery Science Place! Work on a new roof is underway for our 106 year-old building, and while we anticipate construction materials and workers on-site, we will be open for business. Construction should not effect the interior of the museum. In addition to a new roof, expect exciting additional interior updates coming this fall! Discovery Science Place features new Orion exhibit

A new exhibit at Tyler’s Discovery Science Place is gaining popularity with East Texans of all ages. “Orion – Journey to Mars,” an exhibit on NASA’s new four-astronaut space capsule, is on display with hands-on components for guests, as well as a full-size model of the inside of the capsule. The exhibit also includes a miniature robot rover on Mars that can be controlled by a remote. Discovery Science Place Executive Director Chris Rasure said the exhibit will be long-standing
