The Discovery Science Place of Tyler, Texas, seeks an Executive Director who is creative and versatile and seeks to enrich the lives of the children and youth of East Texas. We serve approximately 60,000 visitors a year and occupy a prime two-building corner in downtown Tyler. The science, math, culture museum is almost 15 years old. We have a permanent exhibit hall, a traveling exhibit hall, classrooms, auditorium and wet lab, to name a few. Fifteen full-time and part-time employees staff the museum seven days per week.
We need an executive who will advance the mission of our organization through demonstrated leadership, strategic planning, financial management, staff management, capital growth, community relations, marketing and fundraising. The director will work hand in hand with the Board and will manage all areas of the museum. Leadership experience is preferred within the museum and non-profit sector. A Bachelor's degree is required. Excellent verbal skills and writing ability is imperative.
