It is time to plan for Summer! Check out the schedule of camps for Summer listed below, for June 15 – August 7.
Camps are divided into two age groups based on school grade, K-3rd and 4th-6th (students must be entering 1st Grade or higher at the time of registration).

Summer camps are from 10am-4pm each day, but before and after care is available. The cost is $165 for non-members and $148.50 for DSP Members per week per camper. Cost includes a snack and all camp materials, but campers will need to bring a sack lunch.

Camps that are full as of 7/17 include:

  • Week 6- Mad Scientists (K-3rd)
  • Week 6- Mad Scientists (4th-6th)
  • Week 7- Kitchen Chemistry (K-3rd)
  • Week 8- Up, Up, and Away (K-3rd)
Before and After care is available for an additional fee. See the registration form for details.
Summer Camp registration cancellation policy: If you need to cancel an existing registration the DSP will first endeavor to place your student in another camp if desired and if space permits.
Refunds will be issued as follows: cancellations made more than 30 days prior to camp beginning- full refund, more than 14 days prior- refund minus $25, more than 7 days prior- refund minus $50, less than 7 days prior- refund minus $75. Please note that UT Tyler may refuse the DSP to allow a refund if initial payment is made by personal check.

Summer Camp – Lego Robotics

Lego Evo 3 Robot
A perennial favorite of DSP campers; building robots never gets old! Robots will be built early in the week and a variety of challenges for those robots will take place over a period of days. Students will learn teamwork, the basics of coding, as well as design principles for their robots. Sign up early for this camp!

3D Modeling featuring Minecraft

Minecraft Logo
Campers will learn about the modeling process and how we now can take ideas from conception to digital items and then turn them into real world objects. Students will create items in Minecraft that we will be printed on our 3d printers later in the week.

Sound and Light

Our DSP campers will learn exciting things about music, sound and light, including creating their own musical instruments. Students will also get to experiment with mirrors, lasers, and fog machines as they put their senses to work examining the world around them!

Take Flight

What is made out of paper and can travel over 30 feet in the air? Campers will get build and test awesome flying objects like this. Planes, helicopters, rockets, parachutes… If it can fly or move through the air, we will try to build it!

Kitchen Chemistry

All kinds of cool chemistry experiments start with items that can be found in your own kitchen. Slime, instant snow, ice cream, oobleck and more can be created with just a few ingredients. Campers will have the chance to experiment in the coolest (and often the messiest) camp the Discovery Science Place offers!

Make it Move

Campers in our last camp of the season will get to fly, drive, and rocket creations all around their classrooms. Campers will learn about what causes motion, the basic physics involved, and how we discuss forces and motion in the science classroom.
